Using firewalls

Working with third party firewalls

If you do not use the Codian video firewall solution and you have video conferencing users outside of your

company network, you might have your MCU and/or IP VCR behind a third-party firewall. Figure 21

shows how your network might look.

If you are using the MCU/IP VCR behind a third-party firewall, there are a number of issues of which you

should be aware:

 H.323 protocol connections use a number of different ports, your firewall must be ‘H.323 aware’ for

these connections to be successful
