If you attempt to change channels to an HD channel when all HD streams are in use, HD channels display the

following screen.

If you press the OK button, following alert is displayed:

You can choose from three options:

 • Watch in SD. You will be tuned to the standard deﬁnition channel.

 • Try again later. If a stream is available, the full screen video is displayed.

 • Select a recording. The Recorded TV screen is displayed. You can change the recorded program or cancel

an in-progress HD recording to free up an HD stream.

NOTE: A similar alert message will appear if you attempt to use more HD streams on a single set-top box than the

box is allowed to use.

NOTE: To better manage in-home bandwidth, the set-top box will automatically go into standby after 8 hours

of inactivity.

Error Messages

Occasionally, the TDS TV system may encounter a problem and display an error message on your television.

Explanation

Error messages can appear when you try to perform an operation that’s unavailable or not allowed.

The message may ask you to try the operation again later, or it may display a screen with one or more options

you can select. For example, if the VOD service is down when you try to rent a video, you may see the following

message:

“Video on Demand is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.”

Recommended action:

1. Follow the instructions in the message.

  •Ifthemessagesuggestsretryingtheoperationlater,waitseveralminutesandretrytheoperation.

  •Ifthemessagedisplaysascreenwithoptions,usethearrowbuttonsonyourremotecontroltoselectthe

most logical option, and then press OK.

2. If you cannot resolve the problem within a reasonable time (such as 30 minutes), call TDS at 1-866-44-TDS TV

(1-866-448-3788).

Be prepared to give your service provider the following information:

• Whatyouweretryingtodo.

  • Whatwentwrong.

  • Thetextoftheerrormessagethatappeared.

  • Anyerrorcodescontainedinthemessage.
