Session Border Control
SBC functions interconnect independent VoIP networks for data and voice transport (Table 3). SBCs are critical components for
scaling networks from islands within a single customer network to an end-to-end IP community. The Cisco AS5400XM Universal
Gateway is a simple and cost-effective solution that provides a network-to-network demarcation interface for signaling interworking,
media interworking, address and port translations, billing, security, and QoS and bandwidth management. SBC functions operate
concurrently with the voice gateway functions. The Cisco AS5400XM Universal Gateway supports SBC for H.323 and SIP.
